This weekend was less than perfect for fly fishing conditions. The Allegheny was at a nice flow of 1270 CFS with a few smaller fish active in some of the riffles and runs. The Alleghenies water temp is holding at 68F, still a little warm to keep the big fish happy. Once the temp. starts to drop back into the lower 60's you find the action start to heat up. The Clarion water temp is holding at a good temperature, it just needs a little more flow. The actions is what you can expect for August fishing on both rivers. Still catching fish, just not huge numbers.
Off to the Big Easy for the International Fly Tackle Retailer this week. Once I'm back from the show, I'll post some picks and my thoughts on some of the new fly fishing product that is going to be introduced for 2012. Back on the river next week and will have more fishing news soon. Hope to catch some Redfish while down there too. Tight lines until next time.
