Another excellent week of Steelheading

Steelhead Extreme

The steelhead season continues even with low water conditions and warm temperatures.  Lake Erie is finally below 50 degrees which will spark even more fish to run as the end of November approaches quickly.  With above average temps and plenty of rain in the forecast the season is going to continue to be excellent well into January.
The Clarion river is still producing some great trout fishing for the drifting angler.  Great water levels and very cooperative trout is making this one of the best fall seasons yet!
I look forward to seeing you on the river.

More Fresh Chrome!

Steelhead, steelhead and more steelhead.  It's time for great steelhead fishing now!  Not only are the tribs full of fish, there are fresh chromers to dark spawners all over the place!  Things are looking excellent for the remainder of November with increasing numbers for December.  Everything from intruders to skating flies have been working well.  Watch the flows and rig according to the pool you are fishing.  See you on the streams.

Steelhead Pics of the Week.

November Steelhead

Its finally November, what some declare as the peak month for Lake Erie Steelhead.  October wasn't all that bad, if November is better everyone look out!
This past week most of the Erie tributaries dropped to low clear conditions, offering some excellent dead drifted, skated and skittering techniques for dry fly action.  The Catt is finally getting to nice levels for wade fishing.  Numbers of fish through the system are hit and miss.  If you get to the right spot at the right time you can lay into some excellent action.  The Catt will be fishable until the next heavy rains, which aren't in the forecast until Thursday of this upcoming week.  Now is the time to get out and fish this great tributary.
The trout fishing on the Clarion river remains excellent this fall.  The flows will continue to drop as this week continues making conditions tough.  The Allegheny remains high and difficult to fish.
See you on the Catt this week.  Time to break out the two handed and swing some flies.
